Cleanse, Day 7
Today is the last day of Phase 1 of our cleanse. Last night, we learned more about Phase 2, which includes 3 days of all raw foods (salads, fruits, vegetables only), 3 days of liquids only, enemas and new exercises. Besides the raw foods, much of this will be new to me. However, none of it seems too difficult and I rather like the idea of getting used to fasting with a 3 day fast, rather than a week or longer. I’m actually happy to learn that I can fast at all, as I’ve always had it in my head that I wouldn’t be able to participate in fasts because of my hypoglycemia. Quite the contrary, it appears that both the Master Cleanse and a juicing cleanse based largely on vegetables (especially greens) would work just fine. I especially like having a naturopathic physician to check in with!
Apparently, all things health are being drawn into my life! I was recently invited by research firm to take part in a health insurance round-table. Although specifics were not given out, my inclination is that the study was funded by a health insurance firm looking to find out why people choose one insurance over the other. Given this, I have been thinking quite a bit about the nature of health insurance and been amazed lately by the expense involved with a switch to healthy living that health insurance largely ignores. Health insurance only appears to kick in when one is sick (and we pay for additional complimentary care)! I’d switch in an instant to an insurance carrier would cover preventative care (cleansing, detoxing, body pH testing, etc.). Regence, my current insurer, will cover a naturopath, but I appear on my own to pay for any of the recommendations for keeping healthy or using naturopathic techniques to improve my health. When I mentioned to my Grandmother that health insurance should cover individuals attempting to stay healthy, she noted, Well, I guess. I’ve never heard of an idea like that. In the end, I didn’t share these thoughts at the round-table last night as they overbooked and ended up sending me home 15-minutes into meeting.
pH 5.8 (too acidic!), weight 142.6
